HIRS4 MetOp-A

High-resolution Infra Red Sounder / 4 (HIRS4) is an evolution of HIRS/3 on NOAA 15/16/17. Operations on NOAA-18 stopped in 2009. HIRS is part of the ATOVS sounding instrument suite (Advanced TIROS Operational Vertical Sounder). The scanning technique is Cross-track: 56 steps of 26 km s.s.p., swath 2200 km - Along-track: one line each 42 km every 6.4 s. The resolution is 10 km at s.s.p.
